Overview

The Payroll Manager contributes to the Foundation's profitability and protects its assets by coordinating and managing the payroll function.

Qualifications

• Certifications: N/A
• Education: Experience In Lieu of Education, Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• Work Experience: 4 years in Accounting

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, lead, and control activities of payroll staff, including assigning backup responsibilities, monitoring internal controls, resolving problems, and conducting performance appraisals and hiring.
• Oversee all activities in the payroll function, ensuring timely and accurate employee payments and maintaining records.
• Supervise payroll staff and oversee daily operations.
• Coordinate with other departments and external agencies as a liaison for payroll matters.
• Interpret internal control needs, work with auditors, and implement solutions for identified issues.
• Manage federal and state payroll regulatory reporting and monitor compliance requirements.
• Plan, perform, and coordinate payroll system maintenance, upgrades, and evaluations.
• Evaluate processes for improvements and efficiencies, ensure training availability.
• Manage 457 and 451 plans, reconcile payroll liability accounts, and post G/L journal entries.
• Establish safeguards for assets, collaborate with HR on incentives, and prepare reports for IRS, workers' compensation, and surveys.
• Upload and process deductions and earnings files, develop payroll calendars, and manage year-end processes.
• Prepare pension spreadsheets and audit reports, maintain payroll documentation, and review policies.
• File payroll tax returns and provide data for Medicare reports and tax returns.

Compensation and Benefits
