Job Description

The Manager of Facilities reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Manager of Facilities is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Facilities Department, including Maintenance, Engineering, and Grounds.

Responsibilities:

  • General Duties:
  • Set clear expectations for continuous quality and service improvements, using internal and external benchmark data to establish best practices.
  • Stay informed of current and emerging issues and trends in areas of accountability.
  • Make effective hiring decisions, train, and develop staff within departments.
  • Identify staff skills and interests, providing timely and appropriate feedback.
  • Communicate effectively across all sectors of the organization.
  • Tour and inspect the facility daily for defects and damages, coordinating repairs to meet or exceed customer service expectations.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce departmental policies and procedures.

For Maintenance:

  • Manage facility operations effectively and cost-efficiently, ensuring a first-class building environment.
  • Participate in creating and executing the hospital's master plan for facilities.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to increase asset lifespan.
  • Administer the CMMS for all preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and regulatory agencies, including percent completion of PMs, CMs, and safety testing.
  • Manage in-house key management and locksmith services for departments and tenants.

For Engineering:

  • Oversee maintenance strategies that extend asset life, reduce service interruptions, and lower total ownership costs.
  • Administer the CMMS for engineering activities.
  • Manage compliance with regulatory requirements, including safety testing.
  • Maintain online drawing and document management systems.
  • Develop and implement water management plans as per ASHRAE 188 standards.

For Grounds:

  • Manage landscaping, snow removal, parking, irrigation, and pond maintenance.

For EOC:

  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, IDPH, IEPA, OSHA, and other regulations.
  • Lead chapters for Life Safety and Utilities, supporting oversight for Haz Chem and Medical Equipment.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of facilities-related supervisory experience
  • High School Diploma
  • Knowledge of maintenance, plant operations, tasks, skills, and equipment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, construction, or related field
