The Emergency Department Clinical Manager provides direct leadership and oversight of the ED, serving as both a clinical resource and a professional role model for nursing staff. This manager acts as a liaison with the medical staff and is responsible for integrating department services with broader hospital functions, including coordinating care delivery across departments. Day‑to‑day accountabilities span clinical operations, budget adherence, and regulatory compliance, as well as the full employment lifecycle—hiring, onboarding, ongoing education, performance evaluation, and, when necessary, disciplinary processes. The manager also develops, implements, and evaluates department policies and procedures that define the scope of ED services and guide consistent, competent patient care.
