Reports to:

Director, Playwrights Horizons Theater School

Position Summary:

Playwrights Horizons is seeking an outgoing, passionate, highly organized individual to join the administrative team downtown at the Playwrights Horizons Theater School! Alongside the Director, this role will oversee the administration of all academic matters and serves as the first point of contact for communication between students, faculty, staff, and the NYU Department of Drama.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a first point of contact and liaison between school administration and the student body through advising, coordination, and conflict resolution as needed.
  • Create and maintain the academic calendar, class schedule, student files and schedules, and class rosters.
  • Facilitate student enrollment both internally and with NYU.
  • Collect, organize, and distribute course evaluations, student grades and evaluations, submit grades to NYU.
  • Serve as a liaison to NYU student advisors.
  • Serve as advisor and liaison to student groups as assigned by the Director.
  • Oversee event coordination and execution for various school events and meetings, including First and Final Fridays, First year orientation, Studio Swap, Parents Day, Alumni nights and others that may come up.
  • Manage and create all school communications, such as the newsletter, social media presence, website pages, and Blackbaud resources.
  • Create and maintain student and faculty handbooks in partnership with the Director.
  • Maintain and execute Faculty payroll process, including onboarding into payroll system.
  • Manage and organize school supplies inventory, track expenses and petty cash as part of the larger School budget in partnership with the Director.
  • Coordinate the fulfillment of classroom requests such as set up and equipment needs with other administrative staff.
  • Partner with the Director to build relationships with Playwrights Horizons and participate in developing programming that increases points of connection between the school and theater.
  • Collaborate with the Director of People + Operations on Alumni relations and developing the Alumni program.
  • Provide general administrative support to faculty, staff, and students.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Minimum 4 years of administrative experience.
  • Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
  • Passion for working with students in an educational environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in Blackbaud and Asana a plus.
  • Able to work from the office a minimum of 4 days a week during the semester.
  • Ability to interact successfully with key stakeholders at all levels at NYU and at the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills particularly with young people.
  • Maintain mental health first aid certification.
  • Experience working for a non-profit and/or educational institution preferred.
Compensation:

$60,000-$65,000 per year, commensurate with experience
