Job summary

Johns Hopkins Medicine is seeking a Manager for Patient Service in Baltimore to lead hospital food service operations. You will plan and oversee patient dining, ensure food safety and sanitation, and maintain the patient menu system while supervising staff and improving patient satisfaction.

As the Manager for Patient Service, you will:
  • Plan, coordinate and manage patient/resident food service activities, complying with the standards established by The Johns Hopkins Hospital within the Johns Hopkins Health System and all regulatory agencies
  • Ensure compliance to food safety, sanitation, and overall workplace safety standards
  • Maintain and support patient menu computer system
  • Manage food-service supply levels, procurement, and equipment maintenance
  • Maintain compliance with established policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control
    • Maintain records, reports, and statistics as required
  • Be responsible for adhering to sanitation requirements and enforces quality control standards for patient food items including temperature, food handling, quality, taste and presentation
  • Enhances professional growth and development through in-service and other educational programs.
  • Participate in regular patient rounding to continually monitor, maintain and improve patient satisfaction
  • Train/orient, instruct, assign and supervise kitchen service employees to ensure core competencies and regulatory guidelines are met
  • Evaluate performance and recommend action such as merit increases, promotions, disciplinary actions
  • Develop schedules and assignments for patient services nutrition employees.
  • Establish, monitor and update operating standards as needed, and consistently communicate expectations to employees
  • Interview, hire, train, appraise, counsel, and supervise staff
    • Conduct line meetings, huddles and unit meetings to keep staff up to date on all key issues
What you'll bring:
  • High School/GED
    • BS in food services or hospitality preffered
  • 5+ years' previous management experience in large-scale, high-volume food service operation
  • Baltimore City Food Services Manager Certificate preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Excel

Salary Range: Minimum 25.29/hour - Maximum 44.28/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
