Job Description

The Manager of Medical Economics is responsible for collecting, validating, analyzing, and organizing data into meaningful reports to support management decision-making. They design, develop, test, and deploy reports for operational and strategic analysis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Manage and oversee Medical Economics Team activities and personnel.
  • Provide technical expertise and maintain relationships with operational leaders and staff.
  • Direct project teams, maintain internal and project work plans to meet reporting needs.
  • Handle staff performance coaching, development, and career planning.
  • Manage daily data management, tools, and technology work streams.
  • Coordinate with the team to meet data analysis and database development needs.
  • Review and improve business logic and data sources.
  • Mentor staff and review analyst work products for accuracy and clarity.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and document health plan projects.
  • Maintain reporting service level benchmarks.
  • Represent the department in cross-departmental meetings and serve as liaison between EIM and Medical Economics.
  • Create reports for strategic analysis, profitability, financial analysis, utilization patterns, and medical management.
  • Maintain positive interactions with health plan and corporate personnel.

Job Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

Required Experience:

  • At least 3 years of management or team leadership experience.
  • Preferably 10 years of work experience with claims data and/or in healthcare.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, SQL, and Power BI report development.
  • Familiarity with relational database concepts and SDLC.

Preferred Education: Master's Degree in a related field.

Preferred Experience:

  • 3–5 years supervisory experience.
  • Experience in Population Health/Clinical Analytics and Clinical Program Evaluation.
  • Experience building clinical targeting models for Case Management.
  • Interest or experience in learning Python/PySpark.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Interest in healthcare analytics and domain knowledge.
  • Self-motivated to learn and expand skills.
