Position Overview

Manager in Training (MIT)

SPEC Building Materials Corporation is recognized as one of the nation’s leading wholesale distributors of quality building materials and equipment for both commercial and residential roofing contractors. Since 1973, the family‑owned and operated business has grown to thirty‑five branch locations across the Midwest, South, and Southeast.

We are seeking leaders who would like to run a business as if it were their own. The MIT program trains associates on every business segment and culture. Upon successful completion, the candidate will have the opportunity to run their own branch.

Position Requirements

• Preferably a 4‑year BS in Marketing/Sales, Business, or related field


• Two years of industry or industry‑related experience in building materials


• Two years of prior work experience


• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel


• Entrepreneurial spirit; self‑motivated and enthusiastic about business


• Excellent customer service skills


• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and time‑management abilities


• Analytical and problem‑solving skills


• Good verbal and written communication skills


• Ethical, honest, dependable


• Current state‑issued driver’s license with satisfactory driving record


• Legally entitled to work in the United States


• Ability to pass a company‑required drug test


• Reading, speaking, and writing proficiency in English
