Here, your curiosity fuels progress, your voice shapes innovation, and your ambition helps redefine what's possible within science and learning. We are a culture that obsesses over impact, challenges, and drives what's next to power infinite possibilities for our customers, colleagues and society at large.

About the Role:

Reporting to the VP Compensation & Mobility, the Manager, Immigration & Global Mobility serves as Wiley's primary subject matter expert and operational lead for US and global immigration and international relocations. The core of the work is immigration case management, legal vendor oversight, and cross-functional stakeholder coordination. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on experience in US immigration, global mobility and vendor management.

Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as the organization's primary point of contact and internal expert for all US and international immigration matters, including nonimmigrant and immigrant visa categories.
  • In coordination with external immigration counsel, manage end‑to‑end immigration case lifecycles, including initiating filings and ensuring timely execution of key milestones.
  • Explain immigration and relocation case plans and policy interpretations to employees, HR Business Partners, and business leaders through documented timelines, requirements, responsibilities, and decision points.
  • Partner with HR, Legal, Tax, Payroll, Finance, and Talent Acquisition to ensure mobility‑related activity is properly tracked and reported.
  • Anticipate immigration renewal deadlines and case lifecycle risks through a proactive calendar, escalating emerging issues before compliance or employee experience is affected.
  • Act as a resource for cross‑border compensation and shadow payroll decisions by clarifying assignment terms, mobility provisions, and required data with Tax and Payroll stakeholders.
  • Recommend improvements to immigration, relocation, and assignment workflows by identifying recurring case issues and translating findings into process documentation, operating procedures, and employee guidance.
  • Own defined workstreams within broader People Organization initiatives, coordinating stakeholder input, identifying dependencies, and recommending practical solutions that support successful delivery.
  • Contribute to general compensation processes, including annual salary planning, incentive administration, market pricing, and compensation data analysis, applying sound judgment to deliver accurate and consistent outcomes.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency in immigration and mobility case management processes and regulatory compliance requirements (work authorization, sponsorship, right‑to‑work documentation).
  • Strong proficiency in mobility case management systems and vendor coordination processes used to track assignments, compliance obligations, and employee status changes.
  • Strong ability to advise non‑specialist stakeholders (HRBPs, managers, employees) on complex immigration matters in plain language.
  • Demonstrated experience managing external vendors, including SLA oversight and performance management.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and immigration/mobility case management tools.
Preferred
  • Experience managing international immigration across UK, EU, and/or APAC jurisdictions.
  • Global Mobility Specialist or Certified Relocation Professional, or Paralegal Certificate with immigration focus.
  • Experience supporting M&A activity with immigration implications (e.g., visa portability assessments, PERM/I-140 transfer considerations).
  • Broader People Organization / HR experience, including compensation.
Core Competencies:
  • Interpersonal: Explains complex information clearly and concisely to build shared understanding with stakeholders; works to build consensus.
  • Problem Solving & Business Acumen: Solves complex problems by exercising judgment based on analysis of multiple sources of information, applying best practices rather than relying on precedent alone.
  • Independence & Ownership: Works independently with minimal guidance; acts as a resource by anticipating needs and bringing forward improvements, rather than waiting for direction.
  • Functional Knowledge: Requires conceptual and practical expertise in own discipline and related knowledge of related disciplines.
