Job summary

EVgo is seeking a Manager, Electrical Engineering to lead the electrical engineering discipline across EV charging hardware projects. You will guide design delivery, review high‑complexity decisions, and partner with mechanical, firmware and software teams to align hardware requirements with program goals.

You will own the design release processes for schematics and PCB layouts, manage supplier relationships, and ensure quality and on‑time delivery across a diverse portfolio of EVSE work.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, 6 years with a Master's, or 3 years with a Ph.D. and related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Present project status, risks, and recommendations to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Lead some PCBA/other EEd design tasks to manage the team load.
  • Review design decisions and technical approaches on higher-complexity electrical hardware projects.
  • Partner with peer engineering managers to coordinate hardware requirements and cross-functional delivery.
  • Responsible for design release process for schematic, board layout, and tracking version control.
  • Develop and manage supplier relationships with PCBa board house, qualification testing services, and other strategic partnerships.
  • Define and support Board EOL procedures through in-circuit testing and interface fixtures.
  • Manage the electrical engineering discipline's project delivery across EVSE and supporting design projects.
  • Follow and enforce established engineering processes to ensure design quality and delivery timelines.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support team and organizational objectives.
  • Manage delivery results and hold performance accountability across the discipline.
  • Review performance and delivery results on an ongoing basis.
  • Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular feedback and development conversations.
  • Identify growth needs and support development through coaching, training assignments, and career conversations.

Position Summary

The Manager, Electrical Engineering manages the electrical engineering discipline's delivery of operational results across a diverse scope of EV charging hardware projects. This role brings advanced understanding of the hardware design business line to guide varied technical and delivery challenges.

Qualifications


  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; 6 years with a Master's degree; or a Ph.D. with 3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.



Desired Skills


  • Experience with protocols including SPI, I2C, CAN, Modbus, and Ethernet.

  • Working Knowledge of High Voltage systems and Power Electronics

  • Proficiency with test and measurement tools (Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, spectrum analyzer)

  • Advanced understanding of electrical hardware design practices, project delivery, and quality processes. Includes experience with schematic design tools, PCB layout, simulation tools (OrCAD, Altium, PSpice, Matlab, etc)

  • Occasional travel may be required for team, supplier, or cross-functional meetings.

  • Experience managing hardware design delivery across multiple concurrent programs.

  • Be a good self-starter, have a strong ability to deal with ambiguity, establish priorities, and proceed with objectives with limited supervision.

  • Have good organizational skills and an ability to multi-task.

  • Bilingual Mandarin and English
