Job description

Manager of Development & Automation | Remote (US) | $120,000 - $150,000 + Benefits

A growing technology services organization is looking for a Manager of Development & Automation to lead a high-impact function focused on automation, AI, systems integration, and operational efficiency.

This is an opportunity to join a fast-scaling team where you'll have the autonomy to shape strategy, build solutions, and lead a small team while remaining hands-on with technology. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable discussing business challenges with senior stakeholders and building automation solutions themselves.

You'll be responsible for developing and executing an automation roadmap that improves operational efficiency, eliminates manual processes, and delivers measurable business value through automation, integration, reporting, and AI-driven solutions.

Working closely with leadership and technical teams, you'll identify opportunities for improvement, implement scalable solutions, and help build a high-performing automation function.

This role would suit a player-coach leader who enjoys mentoring others while remaining actively involved in delivery.

The Opportunity

You'll be responsible for developing and executing an automation roadmap that improves operational efficiency, eliminates manual processes, and delivers measurable business value through automation, integration, reporting, and AI-driven solutions.

Working closely with leadership and technical teams, you'll identify opportunities for improvement, implement scalable solutions, and help build a high-performing automation function.

This role would suit a player-coach leader who enjoys mentoring others while remaining actively involved in delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a growing Development & Automation team
  • Define automation standards, best practices, and technical direction
  • Design and deliver automation solutions across multiple business functions
  • Build system integrations using APIs and modern automation platforms
  • Develop AI-enabled workflows and practical business applications
  • Create dashboards and reporting solutions that improve visibility and decision-making
  • Identify inefficiencies and transform manual processes into scalable workflows
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize and deliver automation initiatives
  • Manage third-party vendors and technology partners when required
  • Measure success through efficiency gains, time savings, and service improvements
Required Experience
  • 5+ years' experience in software development, automation, DevOps, technical operations, or systems integration
  • Previous team leadership, management, or mentoring experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with automation technologies and workflow design
  • Experience working with the Microsoft ecosystem, including Microsoft 365 and Azure
  • Scripting experience with PowerShell and API integrations
  • Exposure to reporting and analytics platforms such as Power BI
  • Practical experience implementing AI solutions in operational or client-facing environments
  • Strong stakeholder management and project delivery skills
Preferred Background
  • MSP, consulting, SaaS, or multi-client service environment experience
  • Experience building AI-powered workflows, copilots, assistants, or RAG-based solutions
  • Comfortable operating in fast-moving, entrepreneurial environments
  • Experience leading small technical teams while remaining hands-on
What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate has successfully balanced leadership and technical delivery. You will still be actively building solutions, not simply managing through layers of process.

We're particularly interested in candidates who:
  • Have recently delivered automation projects themselves
  • Enjoy solving complex business problems through technology
  • Can adapt quickly in a growing environment
  • Take ownership from idea through implementation
  • Thrive with autonomy and accountability
What's On Offer
  • Fully remote position
  • Strong compensation package ($120,000-$150,000)
  • Opportunity to shape and scale a growing function
  • Significant exposure to AI, automation, and emerging technologies
  • Clear career progression and leadership opportunities
  • Collaborative, low-bureaucracy culture focused on outcomes rather than process

If you're passionate about automation, AI, and building high-impact solutions while leading a growing team, we'd love to hear from you.
