Job summary

Jobtailor in Atlanta is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Project Manager to lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of structured cabling and data center infrastructure across commercial spaces and mission-critical facilities.

You will coordinate with IT, electrical, mechanical, A/V, and construction teams; develop plans, rack elevations, BOMs; manage budgets and schedules; mentor staff and ensure documentation and change control. PMP/RCDD preferred; travel to sites will be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering or equivalent
  • Full lifecycle project management experience for structured cabling infrastructures in commercial/offices and mission-critical facilities
  • Strong knowledge of rack and structured cabling systems in data center environments
  • High initiative, customer focus, and fast learner
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to build relationships across project teams and the organization
  • Excellent organization, methodical approach, and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • PMP and BICSI RCDD preferred; AutoCAD experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop plans for new electronic equipment deployments and upgrades with IT, network, server, storage, telecom, AV, production, post production, broadcast, and transmission engineering groups
  • Develop scalable copper and fiber optic pathways, structured cabling, and rack systems for data centers, computer rooms, studios, control rooms, offices, and other facilities
  • Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, consultants, vendors, construction managers, contractors, property management, and internal/external organizations
  • Develop infrastructure plans, drawings, specifications, installation plans, rack elevations, cable and cross-connect plans, and Bills of Materials
  • Order, receive, control, and track project materials
  • Research and evaluate products and help maintain the Standard Materials List
  • Share knowledge, ideas, and best practices with team members
  • Establish and oversee standard practices, processes, procedures, and workmanship standards
  • Write Methods of Procedure (MOP) for work on live systems
  • Manage and deliver large network infrastructure projects within established budgets and schedules
  • Own projects from conceptual development through completion and final documentation
  • Manage subcontractor technical, cost, and schedule performance; prepare scopes and review deliverables
  • Schedule and utilize the project workforce
  • Manage, teach, mentor, and provide regular performance feedback to people
  • Monitor office and data center Moves/Adds/Changes and coordinate rack and cabling tasks
  • Ensure cabling and equipment are properly installed and connected and documentation is current
  • Maintain change control, configuration management, and continuous improvement
  • Travel to sites to oversee structured cabling and equipment installations

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering; or an equivalent combination of skills, professional training, certification and experience
  • Full lifecycle project management experience applicable to the design, deployment and maintenance of structured cabling infrastructures for commercial office spaces and technically complex, high availability, 24x7, mission critical facilities
  • Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of rack and structured cabling systems in commercial office and data center environments
  • High level of initiative, customer focus, and aptitude for learning
  • Ability to work independently in a highly dynamic work environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships throughout the organization and across project teams
  • Exceptional organization, methodical approach, and attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and follow-up skills
  • Ability to break complex issues into manageable parts, establish priorities among multiple tasks, and work collaboratively
