Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to lead network infrastructure and cabling projects at a site. You will plan, direct, coordinate, and budget project activities, ensuring timely execution and compliance with safety and quality standards.

You will develop schedules, manage resources, and engage with clients to meet goals. The role requires deep experience in construction management, data centers, or structured cabling and strong leadership to guide teams on complex programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or related field required.
  • 10+ years in construction management, data centers, or structured cabling.
  • Proven track record delivering mission-critical programs on time and within budget.
  • Must meet Motor Vehicle Record requirements.
  • Contract negotiation and administration experience.
  • Experience building and leading teams.
  • Experience coaching direct reports and vendor teams.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and coordination skills.
  • Client engagement experience in similar programs.
  • Understanding of earned value management, SPI, CPI, and project-tracking metrics.
  • PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
  • BICSI RCDD or similar certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop quality control programs and handle delays or emergencies.

About the Role

The Project Manager (PM) will be a lead member of the operations team, driving the delivery of network infrastructure and cabling projects at a site. The role requires development, management, customer engagement, operational, and overall leadership skills. The PM will plan, direct, coordinate, and budget all project activities, oversee conceptual development, scheduling, and implementation, and provide the final execution of successful projects.

What You’ll Do
  • Accountable for effective project management and delivery of projects.
  • Work with the extended site team to develop program schedules, set milestones, and ensure financial and schedule targets align with customer goals.
  • Identify, acquire, and revise resources as needed to meet changing requirements.
  • Continuously evaluate materials and products for constructability and feasibility during pre‑construction, preparing cost estimates at multiple stages.
  • Initiate and coordinate design efforts and value engineering processes.
  • Schedule logical project steps and budget time to meet deadlines.
  • Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites.
  • Facilitate travel for technicians to project sites.
  • Coordinate with the superintendent, inspect and review projects for code compliance.
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner.
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions with designers, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Obtain necessary permits and licenses.
  • Direct and supervise team members in the office and on site.
  • Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
  • Solicit, negotiate, select, contract, and oversee material suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Requisition supplies and materials to complete projects.
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress, and cost tracking reports.
  • Develop and implement quality control programs.
  • Take action to address delays, bad weather, or emergencies at the construction site.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and designers to resolve work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  • Plan, organize, and direct activities related to construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.
  • Investigate damage, accidents, or delays to ensure proper procedures are followed.
  • Evaluate construction methods for cost‑effectiveness.
  • Manage contract change processes and communicate them.
  • Develop and maintain the project schedule and financial plan.
  • Prepare, maintain, and complete all aspects of the project playbook.
  • Complete weekly and monthly reporting and projections.
  • Train and develop the project team.
  • Prepare timely billing to invoice the client.
  • Purchase equipment and materials.
  • Review job cost postings for accuracy, including invoicing, collections, and periodic financial reporting.
  • Manage all program aspects including safety, quality assurance, and material logistics.
  • Recruit, hire, train, manage, and supervise project staff.
  • Handle human resource issues and escalation per company policies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external design, construction, network, and facility partners.
  • Communicate program status and risks to stakeholders.
  • Take corrective action to address concerns and challenges.
  • Act as the company liaison to the client, maintaining high satisfaction and collaboration.
  • Be present on site for active project management responsibilities.
What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business management, electrical engineering, construction management, or related experience.
  • 10+ years of direct work experience in construction management, data centers, or structured cabling.
  • Track record of delivering mission‑critical programs on time, within budget, and to quality and safety standards.
  • Must be able to meet Motor Vehicle Record requirements.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Contract negotiation and administration experience.
  • Experience building and leading teams.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring direct reports and vendor teams.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and coordination skills across multiple disciplines.
  • Client engagement experience in similar programs.
  • Understanding of program management fundamentals such as earned value management, SPI, CPI, and project‑tracking metrics.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • BICSI RCDD or similar telecommunications certifications preferred.
