The Global Risk & Compliance Organization (GRC), led by the Chief Risk Officer, ensures American Express operates safely, soundly, and in full compliance with regulations. GRC manages risk frameworks, performs assessments, and monitors risks.

The Compliance Risk Management team oversees and enhances compliance risk programs across the organization, ensuring governance structures, policies, and procedures are robust, effective, and compliant. The Audit & Regulatory Engagement team supports exams and audits, ensures timely closure of findings, educates partners, and streamlines compliance processes.

This position serves as the Guardrail point person for the project coordination efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create a comprehensive program management framework supporting coordination among workstreams, activities, and milestones.
  • Establish a clear 3-year compliance plan and roadmap, focusing on year one milestones.
  • Engage with key stakeholders and track progress against milestones and risks, including preparing executive presentation views.
  • Facilitate communication and alignment among project teams and organizational goals.
  • Report scope changes, resourcing, and financial impacts to senior management promptly.
  • Define and monitor KPIs for project success.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and proactive approach.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to track project progress and communicate tradeoffs and approval processes.
  • Strong project management skills: detail-oriented, big-picture aware, proactive, adaptable, and challenge-ready.
  • Proven leadership in building and managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with senior leaders.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of synthesizing messages and preparing concise, clear materials for senior audiences.
  • Experience managing multiple demands within a matrix organization.
  • Team-oriented, problem-solver with a track record of effective collaboration.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of project management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $165,000 annually + bonus + benefits.
