Management Training Program, Operations Supervisor

Job Description

When joining our Management Training Program, you will join the company as an Operations Supervisor. The program lasts 15 weeks, during which you will be trained on every aspect of our company and industry from a service center perspective. You will work at one of our 240 nationwide Service Centers. Willingness to relocate is essential. The training focuses on the role of front-line operational supervisors, providing insights into safety, maintenance, and transportation procedures. You will observe supervisors during various operational shifts (inbound, outbound, city, and DC) of an ABF Freight Service Center. Additionally, you will gain exposure to Sales by spending time with ArcBest Account Managers, accompanying them on client presentations to learn proactive account management. After completing the training, you will be placed in one of our facilities across the continental United States as an Operations Supervisor. Many of our top management started their careers developing their abilities within ArcBest and ABF Freight.

Responsibilities

• Foster safe handling, loading, unloading, and storage of hazardous materials.
• Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment.
• Work collaboratively to achieve department goals.
• Plan, supervise, and control resources for timely, damage-free, and safe freight loading/unloading.
• Support a culture focused on creativity, integrity, collaboration, growth, excellence, and wellness.
• Maintain load plans and ensure proper load balance for safe vehicle operation.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
• Assign tasks to workers based on unloading and loading schedules.
• Coordinate work assignments and monitor performance.
• Provide training, feedback, and disciplinary recommendations as needed.
• Ensure a clean, safe working environment for personnel and visitors.

Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).

Computer Skills:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (required).

Additional Requirements:

• Knowledge of freight, imports, exports, and handling techniques (preferred).
• Willingness to relocate (required).
