Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare in Fredericksburg, VA is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform routine mammography and bone densitometry under radiologist supervision. The role includes preparing patients, verifying orders, and ensuring high-quality imaging for timely interpretation.

You will maintain safety, participate in QA activities, and support education programs for students and cross-training initiatives within the Mammography department.

Qualifications

• Six months relevant experience required; mammography preferred or completion of cross-training program.
• Active Initial Mammography Training Course to include DBT preferred if no mammography experience.
• Bone Densitometry and Stereotactic Breast Biopsy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for mammography examinations, verifies orders, and obtains medical histories to ensure appropriateness.
• Performs screening and diagnostic mammography and bone densitometry; maintains competency through annual orientation.
• Maintains radiation safety practices and ensures high-quality images for Radiologist interpretation.
• Monitors inventory of supplies to prevent service interruptions.
• Participates in performance improvement and accreditation processes.
