  • Three years of experience preferred, especially in mammography.

Job description

Department: 05520 AAH Hartford - Imaging Services

Status: Part time

Benefits Eligible: Yes

Hours Per Week: 28

Schedule Details/Additional Information:

Perform Mammography, XR, & Bone Density

Rotate holiday cover with 11 other technologists (closed Christmas day).

Hours:

Mon & Thu 8 AM - 8 PM

Wed 8 AM - 12 PM

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Determine appropriate radiographic/mammographic technique and position the patient for specified exam.
  2. Position patient and operate equipment to ensure radiography/mammography of the designated body part as specified by the physician.
  3. Determine appropriate technique based on anatomy and patient's condition to obtain high-quality images.
  4. Secure patient history regarding the reason for the test and record it for radiologist review.
  5. Label radiographic films according to department standards.
  6. Process radiographs as per manufacturer's specifications.
  7. Prepare radiology jacket and folder; make prior films available when appropriate.
  8. Prepare information for billing, including history and technologist initials.
  9. Load and unload rolloscope for radiologist to read, ensuring interpretation within 24 hours.
  10. Participate in Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs, perform required tests, report malfunctions, and maintain records.
  11. Adhere to safety standards, attend safety in-services, and maintain a safe work environment.
  12. Ensure cleanliness and neatness of work areas.
  13. Maintain current CPR certification.
  14. Coordinate patient flow, follow proper telephone etiquette, and participate in team problem-solving.
  15. Assist with clerical functions and monitor supply levels, restocking as needed.

Education/Experience Required: Graduate of AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program; three years of experience preferred; mammography experience and outpatient service experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Mammography registration (RTM), licensure (IDNS), excellent communication skills, ability to recognize needs of various age groups.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: May involve exposure to hazardous materials and diseases, requires ability to lift up to 35 pounds, work in a fast-paced environment, and rotate shifts.

Pay Range: $30.15 - $45.25
