Job summary

Ascension Health seeks a Mammography Technologist for St. Vincent Carmel Hospital in Carmel, IN. This part-time, day schedule role focuses on operating mammography equipment, educating patients, and maintaining high-quality imaging workflows.

You will ensure safety, accurate imaging, and timely PACS submissions while upholding department standards and patient care. On-site role with hospital benefits and professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date.
• Cardiographic Tech credentialed from CCI.
• ARRT Mammography credentialed prior to hire.
• ARRT Radiography credentialed prior to hire.
• ARDMS Sonography credentialed prior to hire.
• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable experience.

Responsibilities

• Operates mammography equipment and positions patients.
• Explains procedures and educates patients about regular mammography for breast health.
• Develops and evaluates mammography images for technical quality.
• Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
• Ensures prompt submission of high-quality images and patient data to PACS.
• Reports equipment issues and ensures proper functioning.
• Maintains cleanliness and order in department areas.

Education

BLS Provider (AHA/ARC) within 1 month

Cardiographic Tech (CCI) credentialed

ARRT Mammography

ARRT Radiography

ARDMS (Sonography) credentialed

High School diploma equivalency / Associate's or 4 years experience

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Operates equipment and performs various mammography related procedures. Prepares and positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.

• Explains procedures and educates patients about the role of regular mammography in preventive breast health.

• Develops and evaluates the film for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion.

• Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines.

• Ensures prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).

• Ensures equipment is properly functioning. Reports potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.

• Assists in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• One or more of the following:

• Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

• Radiologic Technologist specializing in Mammography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

• Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

• Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
