Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Mammography Technologist to operate a mammography unit and produce diagnostic breast images under physician supervision. You will explain the procedure to patients, position and immobilize the breast, and monitor imaging quality.

You must have an Associate degree in Radiologic Technology, ARRT Mammography registration, SCRQSA licensure, and BLS certification, with 0–2 years of independent mammography experience.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Current ARRT registration in Mammography.
• SCRQSA licensure and BLS certification required.
• 0–2 years of independent mammography experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate a mammography unit to produce breast images for diagnostic purposes under direction of a physician.
• Explain the procedure to patients, position and immobilize the breast, and monitor the scanning process.
• Review and evaluate the film or image recording plate to determine image quality for diagnostic use.
• Maintain patient records and adhere to radiation safety protocols.
• Describe the procedure to patients and respond to inquiries.
