Job summary

Library Systems and Services is seeking a creative, enthusiastic Makerspace Technician to help patrons bring their projects from dreams to reality in Huntsville, TX. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with 3D printing, cutting machines, sewing machines, and digital media, plus strong customer service and training skills to keep the Makerspace running smoothly and safely.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Two years of experience with makerspace technology, technology instruction, or other creative-based work.
• Public library experience working with technology and the general public preferred.
• Experience in planning and executing programs and events.
• Strong writing, presentation, and public speaking skills.
• Familiarity with tools and equipment associated with a makerspace (3D printing, electronics, robotics, sewing, Cricut, Apple devices).
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and work varied shifts including evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to library patrons of all ages.
• Foster a welcoming, safe, inclusive, and organized Makerspace environment.
• Provide guidance and support to patrons with project ideas, troubleshooting, and skills.
• Provide instruction to patrons and staff in programs, open lab hours, and reservations.
• Provide training and ensure safety procedures for equipment usage.
• Perform general troubleshooting and liaise with IT for advanced issues.
• Represent the Library at community events and engage in outreach.
