Library Systems and Services in Huntsville, TX is seeking a Makerspace Technician to help patrons turn ideas into reality. You will work with 3D printing, cutting and sewing machines, and digital media, while delivering training and running programs to inspire creativity.

The role emphasizes excellent customer service, teaching, safety, and ongoing support for open labs, reservations, and events in a welcoming, collaborative space.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Two years of experience with makerspace technology, technology instruction, or other creative-based work.
• Public library experience with technology and the general public preferred.
• Experience planning and executing programs and events.
• Strong writing, presentation, and public speaking skills.
• Excellent instructional and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to library patrons of all ages.
• Foster a welcoming, safe, inclusive, and organized Makerspace environment.
• Provide guidance and support to patrons with project ideas, troubleshooting, and technical skills.
• Provide instruction to patrons and staff during programs, open lab hours, and reservations.
• Provide training and ensure safety procedures for Makerspace equipment.
• Troubleshoot and perform maintenance of equipment and software, liaising with IT as needed.
• Represent the Library at community events and conduct outreach to promote resources.
