Job summary

American University in Washington, DC is seeking a Makerspace Student Assistant to support the library by operating the Makerspace and maintaining the circulating Media and Technology collection. This role offers routes for specialization depending on experience and availability. Students are expected to work 10-16 hours per week.

Federal Work Study is encouraged but not required. Essential duties include answering tickets in ServiceNow and maintaining a steady presence on Microsoft Teams;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Strong customer service, interpersonal, organization, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and handle monetary transactions.
• Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Answer tickets using ServiceNow and maintain a presence on Microsoft Teams.
• Manage the department’s technology collection, check out tech to users and reshelve items.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors who may not be in the space.
• Assist patrons with understanding library resources and services.
