Job summary

The Town of Glastonbury seeks a part-time Library Technical Assistant to support the Welles-Turner Memorial Library in the MakerSpace, the 2CF Studio. You will help set up equipment, assist patrons, and train staff as needed.

Work limited to about 6 hours per week with availability for days, nights and weekends. Prior library and computer experience are desirable, and the role requires strong customer service and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Two-year Library Technical Assistant degree or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with current library trends and customer service.
• Experience with Word, Excel and general computer use.
• Ability to follow library policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Check library materials in and out and inspect for damage.
• Register and issue library cards to patrons.
• Answer phone calls and route queries to librarians as needed.
• Collect, record and report fines and other funds.
• Catalog and process library materials.
• Maintain and update the Library Catalog.
• Provide training and guidance to library assistants and pages.
• Prepare work schedules and assignments for assistants/pages.
• Assist with special projects and attend relevant meetings.
