Job summary

Aggreko seeks a Major Project Travel Technician - Power Generator to install, service and repair generators across major projects in the United States. Role involves extensive travel and on-site work with a focus on reliability and safety.

You will work with diesel engines, electrical distribution, HVAC and OFA systems, using meters and schematics, while ensuring OSHA and EPA compliance. Training is provided, with substantial field support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 8+ years' experience with power generators, inspections, maintenance and repairs.
• Electrical Generating System Association technician or similar certs are a plus but not required.
• Experience using metering instruments (multimeters, amp meters, hygrometers).
• May require TWIC card or valid DOT medical card and driver’s license per customer requirements.
• Physical ability to lift up to 60 lbs; climb stairs/ladders; stand/walk for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, service and repair Aggreko generators and diesel engines.
• Work on electrical distribution equipment, HVAC equipment, OFA systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures on Major Projects and service centers.
• Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
• Maintain safe working conditions per OSHA, EPA and other regs.
• Interface with the remote operations center to prevent failures and design proactive alerts.

What You'll Do

• You will be part of an elite technician team that will work on a wide range of projects from large events, to assisting Utilities customers or being part of a turnaround team in a refinery.
• Install, commission, service and repair Aggreko generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, HVAC equipment and/or OFA systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures both on Major Projects and in service centers. Utilize mathematical formulas to calculate both nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements.
• Read and comprehend electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of, practice, and promote safe working conditions in accordance with OSHA, EPA and other required regulations dealing with safe operation of all equipment.
• Interface with a remote operations center to prevent failures, help design proactive notification to avoid failures and compliance

Here's What You'll Get

• High school diploma/GED
• 8+ years' experience working on power generators, performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs
• Electrical Generating System Association technician or other various certifications are a plus but not required.
• Knowledge using metering and instruments such as multi-meter's, amp meters, and Hygrometers
• Based on the customer requirements, you may be required to obtain and maintain a TWIC card or valid DOT medical card, valid driver's license
• Ability to move or lift objects, typically less than 75 lbs.

Other Essential Job Requirements

• Availability to work the assigned schedule, travel to work locations (if needed) and be on standby for work outside of regularly scheduled shifts
• Must be able to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time; and be able to walk over uneven terrain with functional balance that does not require any special assistive devices
• Must be able to move the extremities and spine through a functional range of motion that will permit work to be safely performed from ground / floor level to full overhead level
• Must have good finger dexterity to manipulate small items, functional hand-eye coordination, and functionally grip with adequate strength to safely hold tools and stair railing or ladders
• Must be able to safely meet the physical demands outlined in the Essential Physical Capacities Assessment and pass the post-offer physical abilities assessment, which includes being able to lift (60 lbs), push/pull (80 lbs), carry (60 lbs), climb stairs and ladders as well as a combination of climbing while carrying objects (15 lbs), stoop, kneel and squat
