Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Project Manager for Major Projects within Building Technologies & Solutions to lead large HVAC controls construction efforts. You will manage scope, cost, and schedules, coordinating with owners, contractors, and internal teams to drive on-time, within-budget project completion.

The role requires six years of PM experience in construction, knowledge of HVAC systems, and a PMP certification planned within two years.

Qualifications

• 6 years of direct project management experience in Building Construction
• Experience with Mechanical Retrofits, HVAC controls, BAS, Fire and Security management systems
• Healthcare industry experience
• PMI/PMP certification to be obtained within 2 years
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to explain technical material to non-technical audience
• Proficient in project management software and financial accounting systems
• MS Office suite and basic Windows environment
• Travel 40%+; projects may exist outside assigned geography
• Able to execute projects of higher complexity with multiple subcontractors and scopes

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site execution for major HVAC projects and develop schedules
• Evaluate scope, changes, and cost estimates; pursue change orders and negotiate final prices
• Manage costs, billings, and cash flow; ensure profitability
• Review contract terms and conditions
• Analyze financials and project schedules; report progress and risks; use MS Project
• Manage risk and develop recovery plans; resolve disputes
• Negotiate and issue subcontracts; ensure document controls
• Ensure construction complies with specs, codes, and installation techniques
• Coordinate with CMS, installation leaders, and branch teams to allocate resources
• Develop long-term relationships with customers and subcontractors; attend progress meetings
