Job summary

Messina's in New Orleans is seeking a friendly Maître d' to lead the front-of-house experience. You will greet guests, manage reservations, coordinate with servers and kitchen, and ensure smooth seating and service timing throughout each dining visit.

You'll train new hosts, handle guest inquiries with excellent phone etiquette, and uphold cleanliness and safety standards to create a warm, memorable atmosphere. Evening and weekend availability required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a host/hostess or in food service.
• Strong customer service and hospitality mindset.
• Familiarity with Aloha POS or Micros POS.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly upon arrival and set a professional first impression.
• Manage reservations using POS systems to ensure smooth seating flow.
• Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to optimize table assignments and service timing.
• Maintain knowledge of menu offerings, specials, and restaurant policies to assist guests.
• Address guest inquiries promptly via phone or in person, with excellent etiquette.
• Handle guest concerns or complaints with professionalism and swift resolution.
• Oversee guest relations throughout dining experience, ensuring comfort and attentiveness.
• Assist in training new hosts/hostesses on procedures, POS systems and customer service standards.
• Support the team during busy periods by stepping into serving or hosting roles.
• Uphold cleanliness, organization, and safety standards front-of-house.
