Position Overview

The purpose of the position is to complete a variety of tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, and storm drains. This includes constructing or maintaining streets, alleyways, sidewalks, storm drains, and performing related tasks such as debris removal, tree trimming, and vehicle and equipment maintenance. Additional responsibilities contribute to the upkeep of streets, alleys, and right-of-ways.

Key Responsibilities

1. Ensure site safety by directing traffic flow, placing/removing traffic cones and barricades, and routing traffic as appropriate.
2. Repair streets, alleys, and sidewalks by removing damaged sections, assessing work sites, determining necessary materials, patching surfaces, rebuilding shoulders, and operating equipment.
3. Maintain drivable streets and alleyways by sweeping, debris removal, downed tree removal, trimming, sand hauling, and ensuring proper drainage.
4. Complete signage projects by managing inventories, developing new signs, delivering, and installing signage.
5. Maintain vehicles by checking fluids, stocking supplies, and reporting maintenance needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Experience ranging from none to two years, depending on the position

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of construction and maintenance methods, materials, and techniques for streets, roadways, alleys, and rights-of-way
