An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Parks Maintenance Worker to join their team. The purpose of this position is to perform manual labor within the assigned division. Responsibilities may include maintenance of parks, landscaped grounds, playgrounds, facilities, and support for special events and construction projects. Tasks include semi-skilled and skilled work such as installations, inspections, repairs, and maintenance at various locations. The role involves operating, maintaining, inspecting, troubleshooting, and minor repairs of equipment, including hand tools, mechanical tools, and motorized equipment.
Safety is paramount; setting up work zones and ensuring proper safety procedures and equipment use are essential. The position requires knowledge of basic operational, technical, or office processes. The minimum qualifications include an 8th-grade education with 5 years of relevant experience or a high school diploma/GED. Preferred candidates have over one year up to three years of experience.
The work typically involves following detailed instructions with minimal deviation, under close supervision at times. Technical skills appropriate to the work environment are necessary. Basic literacy skills, including understanding common words and writing simple sentences, are required, along with proficiency in dealing with system of numbers, fractions, percentages, ratios, and measurements. Learning the geography of the city, including major streets and landmarks, is also part of the job.
Must possess a valid Texas class 'C' driver's license or higher with a good driving record and maintain it during employment.
Work involves exposure to disagreeable elements and extreme weather conditions. It requires continuous outdoor activity, frequent lifting of heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), physical exertion, and extensive bending, stooping, and climbing.
