Job summary

Missouri Department of Natural Resources is seeking a Maintenance Worker for Lake of the Ozarks State Park. The role supports alteration, maintenance and repair across park facilities and grounds, requiring comfort with multiple trades and physical tasks.

The position involves outdoor work, a Monday–Friday schedule with potential weekends and some overnight stays for events. A valid license for equipment operation will be needed, with six months to obtain required certifications.

  • Operate and maintain park vehicles and related equipment.
  • Assist with prescribed burns, wildfire suppression and herbicide applications as directed.

Please note: The salary range listed in this job description is a base salary. Applicants eligible for years-of-service adjustments or shift differentials may exceed salary range listed above.

This position will be located at Lake of the Ozarks State Park, 403 Hwy 134, Brumley MO 65017. Shift is Monday through Friday (five 8-hour days per week), 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (30-minute lunch break). Shifts may vary with the time of year and to meet the needs of the facility. This position will require working occasional weekends nights, holidays, and special events, etc. Must be available to participate in meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays

  • Responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, natural resource stewardship, and repair of state buildings and facilities.
  • Work in a variety of trade areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete, and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair in settings such as facilities, grounds, and cemeteries.
  • Routine cleaning of park buildings, restrooms, campsites, and park grounds.
  • Maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license to operate and maintain licensed vehicles, as well as tractors, mowers, skid steer, and other grounds related equipment.
  • Operate and maintain lawn mowers, tractors, skid loader, trucks, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and similar mechanical equipment.
  • Assist with prescribed burns, wildfire suppression, herbicide application, and other natural or cultural activities as directed with the completion of Level 1 Prescribed Fire training.
  • May also oversee a crew engaged in maintenance tasks.
  • Be able to walk long distances on uneven terrain in all kinds of weather and environmental conditions and can lift 25 pounds with or without accommodation.
  • May also oversee a crew engaged in maintenance tasks.
  • This position may be required to obtain and maintain appropriate commercial operator’s license, water/wastewater certifications, and/or other required licenses/certification. If required and if you do not currently possess this license/certification, you will be given six months to obtain necessary license/certification.

  • Building and Construction: Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools to construct objects, structures, and buildings.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

  • 1 – 3 years of experience in any of the following trade areas: electrical, plumbing, concrete and masonry, carpentry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair. (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience)
