Job summary

State of Missouri invites applications for a park maintenance position at Bennett Spring State Park in Lebanon, MO. The role involves semi-skilled work across electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete and masonry, painting and mechanical repair within park facilities, grounds, and cemeteries.

Shifts are typically Mon–Fri with potential for nights, weekends, holidays or split shifts. Requires valid driver’s license and may require licenses/certifications within six months.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in electrical, plumbing, concrete and masonry, carpentry, painting, plastering or mechanical repair.
• Equivalent education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience.
• Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled work in alteration, maintenance, natural resource stewardship, and repair of state buildings and facilities.
• Work across trade areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete, masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair.
• Routine cleaning of park buildings, restrooms, campsites, and park grounds.
• Maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license and operate park maintenance equipment.
• Operate and maintain lawn mowers, tractors, skid loader, trucks, chainsaws, and similar equipment.
• Assist with prescribed burns, wildfire suppression, herbicide application, and related activities with Level 1 Prescribed Fire training.
• Oversee a crew engaged in maintenance tasks.

This position will be located at Bennett Spring State Park 26250 Highway 64A, Lebanon, MO. Shifts are primarily Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch. Regular days off will be Saturday and Sunday but may vary. Shifts may vary with the time of year and to meet the needs of the facility; that could include working nights, weekends, holidays, evenings, and split shifts. Must be available to participate in meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays.

• Responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, natural resource stewardship, and repair of state buildings and facilities.
• Work in a variety of trade areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete, and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair in settings such as facilities, grounds, and cemeteries.
• Routine cleaning of park buildings, restrooms, campsites, and park grounds.
• Maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license to operate and maintain licensed vehicles, as well as tractors, mowers, skid steer, and other grounds related equipment.
• Operate and maintain lawn mowers, tractors, skid loader, trucks, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and similar mechanical equipment.
• Assist with prescribed burns, wildfire suppression, herbicide application, and other natural or cultural activities as directed with the completion of Level 1 Prescribed Fire training.
• May also oversee a crew engaged in maintenance tasks.

• This position may be required to obtain and maintain appropriate commercial operator’s license, water/wastewater certifications, and/or other required licenses/certification. If required and if you do not currently possess this license/certification, you will be given six months to obtain necessary license/certification.
