The City of Peoria is seeking a dedicated individual for the Public Works / Streets & Sewers Division. This role involves operating heavy equipment and performing manual labor tasks related to street and sewer maintenance. DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC WORKS / STREETS & SEWERS DIVISION
LOCATION: 3505 DRIES LANE, PEORIA, ILLINOIS
HOURS: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. - Monday through Friday (may require 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts and 12 to 16 hours during emergencies)
This position involves manual labor requiring considerable physical strength and endurance.

High school diploma or GED, possession of a Class CDL-B permit or higher at hire, with a requirement to obtain a valid CDL-B license within 30 days of completing the City’s training. Some experience in semi-skilled construction work, and the ability to read and write, are necessary. A combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge will be considered.
Important Attributes: Knowledge of maintenance and construction practices, ability to perform heavy manual labor, operate hand and mechanical tools, coordinate movements, establish effective relationships, understand instructions, operate trucks and heavy equipment, and follow safety protocols. Skills include equipment maintenance, blueprint reading, chemical handling, and supervising semi-skilled workers.
