This position reports directly to the Plant Manager or designate.
PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE:
Under general supervision, performs preventative maintenance and repairs to plant equipment, vehicles, facility, and grounds.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform preventative or corrective maintenance for all bulk, production, retail, warehouse, and office equipment as necessary. This includes greasing bearings, checking belts, making adjustments, and inspecting for damaged parts.
- Understand the maintenance and operation of all production equipment, including grinders, robot stackers, etc.
- Evaluate and prioritize maintenance jobs, scheduling them to minimize impact on operations.
- Repair machinery by installing new parts such as bearings, sheaves, shafts, belts, and other damaged components.
- Maintain and purchase inventory, ensuring adequate supplies of parts and tools, and sourcing the best prices.
- Transport equipment needing repair when required.
- Maintain the upkeep of the maintenance area and take responsibility for maintenance equipment within the facility.
- Fabricate items from metals using welding and cutting tools.
- Keep detailed maintenance records of equipment installations, repairs, and scheduled preventive maintenance.
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques, lockout/tagout, confined space protocols, spill control, OSHA regulations, and chemical safety.
- Wear appropriate safety equipment such as steel-toed shoes, ear protection, bump caps, goggles, gloves, and harnesses as required.
- Obey all work rules and company policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to succeed within and adhere to the company's culture.
- Capability to perform essential job functions with or without accommodations.
- High school diploma or equivalent, with additional training in welding, electrical, plumbing, and at least two years of maintenance mechanic experience in manufacturing or agriculture.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English, with basic math skills, and the ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Ability to operate skid loaders, end loaders, and other production equipment.
- Ability to ascend ladders and work at heights safely.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and stoop with up to 70 lbs regularly, and maneuver heavy loads with equipment like pallet jacks and forklifts, with certification preferred or obtainable.
- Ability to perform cleaning in dusty environments while wearing protective gear.
- Flexibility to vary work schedules based on operational needs.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively about machine or building issues.
- Willingness to learn and comply with cGMP, FDA, OSHA, and EPA regulations related to manufacturing.
