Job summary

Goodrich ISD District Wide in Goodrich, Texas seeks a Maintenance/Transportation Liaison to manage district transportation operations and oversee maintenance of district-owned vehicles and facilities.

The role requires CDL preferred or ability to obtain, one year of building maintenance experience, and the ability to work independently, follow instructions, and operate hand tools. You will coordinate routes, schedules, and safety across district campuses.

Qualifications

• Education/Certification: CDL Texas driver’s license preferred or the ability to obtain license.

Responsibilities

• Transportation and Vehicle Maintenance Operations: Manage transportation services for students; ensure safe on-time pickup and arrival; update bus routes and schedules; coordinate for activities; monitor fuel deliveries; oversee vehicle repairs and preventive maintenance; contract outside services as needed.
• Maintenance and Repair: Assist with repair/maintenance of facilities; inspect buildings and grounds; report major repairs; perform repairs and assist with grounds activities; move and install school furniture and equipment.
• Safety: Follow safety procedures; report unsafe conditions; maintain tools and equipment; perform preventive maintenance.

Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Manage the district's transportation operations. Ensure safe and efficient operation of the transportation department. Oversee maintenance of all district-owned vehicles. Perform general maintenance and repair of building structures and their mechanical, electrical, and sanitary systems throughout the district. Assist with maintenance of grounds.

Education/Certification:

Clear and valid CDL Texas driver’s license preferred or the ability to obtain license

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Transportation and Vehicle Maintenance Operations

• Manage the delivery of transportation services for students and ensure they are picked up and arrive safely and on time.
• Oversee preparation and updating of bus routes and schedules for all schools in the district and develop plans to meet future transportation needs.
• Communicate changes in routes and scheduling to campuses and the public when warranted.
• Coordinate transportation for extracurricular activities and special programs.
• Monitor fuel deliveries and distribution. Oversee repair of all district-owned vehicles and preventive maintenance. Ensure vehicle repair requests and work orders are prioritized and processed in a timely manner. Contract for outside services that cannot be performed in shops.

Maintenance and Repair

• Assist skilled workers with repair and maintenance of district facilities, including repairing woodwork; replacing electrical switches, fixtures, and motors; painting, repairing, and replacing plumbing fixtures and drainage systems; and replacing broken glass.
• Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform maintenance and minor repairs.
• Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including lockers, furniture, and equipment.
• Complete repairs as directed on work orders or by maintenance foreman
• Assist with mowing and detailing of district grounds.
• Move, install, assemble, and repair all school furniture and playground equipment as needed.

Safety

• Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate equipment and use tools according to established safety procedures.
• Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
• Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.

Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel
