Job summary

East Chambers ISD is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform general maintenance and repair of district buildings and related systems, and assist with grounds keeping. Responsibilities include supporting skilled workers, inspecting facilities, completing repairs per work orders, driving the district bus as needed, and maintaining tools with safety in mind.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist skilled workers with repair and maintenance of district facilities, including woodworking, electrical, plumbing, and painting tasks.
• Inspect interior/exterior buildings and grounds and perform minor repairs as needed.
• Detect and report major repairs to supervisor or foreman.
• Move, install, assemble, and repair school furniture and playground equipment.
• Drive bus on route or trips when required; conduct pre- and post-trip inspections.
• Follow safety procedures, report unsafe conditions, and maintain tools and preventive maintenance.

Job description

Primary Purpose

Perform general maintenance and repair of building structures and their mechanical, electrical, and sanitary systems throughout district. Assist with maintenance of grounds. operate school bus and related equipment to provide safe and orderly transportation of students.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

• Clear and valid Texas driver's license with ability and willingness to obtain a CDL Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements within 6 months of hire

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)

Major Responsibilities And Duties

• Assist skilled workers with repair and maintenance of district facilities, including repairing woodwork; replacing electrical switches, fixtures, and motors; painting, repairing, and replacing plumbing fixtures and drainage systems; and replacing broken glass.
• Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform maintenance and minor repairs.
• Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including lockers, furniture, and equipment.
• Complete repairs as directed on work orders or by maintenance foreman.
• Assist with mowing and detailing of district grounds.
• Move, install, assemble, and repair all school furniture and playground equipment as needed.
• Drive bus when needed on route and/or trips.
• Drive bus to and from extracurricular activities when needed.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections according to specifications to ensure bus can be operated safely and notify supervisor of needed repairs. Keep assigned bus clean and maintain appropriate level of fuel.
• Safety
• Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate equipment and use tools according to established safety procedures.
• Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
• Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
