Job summary

FMI Maintenance is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician to support production and facility operations in Winston-Salem, NC. The role covers preventive maintenance, troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, reading schematics, and performing general facility upkeep to minimize downtime.

The ideal candidate will read schematics, use basic tools and a multimeter, and be able to work during the Weekend/Night shift.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• U.S. Person status required for export-controlled information.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and frequent standing/walking/bending.
• Proficiency with hand/power tools; forklift or mobile equipment experience a plus.
• Read and follow safety procedures, manuals and work instructions.
• Basic math and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork with a safety‑first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment and facility systems to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, including replacing components (motors, sensors, belts, pumps, valves, bearings).
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and provide timely technical assistance to production.
• Perform general facility maintenance (basic electrical, lighting, plumbing, building upkeep).
• Install, adjust, and maintain new and existing equipment.
• Follow all safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout, and wear required PPE.

• Perform general facility maintenance (basic electrical, lighting, plumbing, and building upkeep)

• Follow all safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout, and wear required PPE in environments with mechanical, chemical, and noise exposure

What we need from you:

• High school diploma or GED required
• This position requires access to export-controlled information for which U.S. Person status is required under applicable U.S. export control laws and regulations.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs and performing frequent standing, walking, and bending
• Proficiency with hand/power tools; forklift or mobile equipment experience a plus
• Ability to read and follow safety procedures, manuals, and work instructions
• Basic math and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a safety-first mindset
