Job summary

Charter is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain equipment and facilities at our Winston-Salem site, handling electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, PMs, and documentation of work in our CMMS. The role requires reading blueprints and collaborating with a team to ensure continuous operations.

Second shift is Monday–Friday, 3:00 pm–11:00 pm. On‑site work with on‑call rotation; valid driver’s license required and experience with ERP/eQMS systems is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2–5 years of maintenance experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years electrical and mechanical knowledge.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Must possess valid state driver’s license.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as required.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical manufacturing equipment issues using control knowledge, including PLC and three‑phase systems.
  • Identify root causes of failure through methodical analysis.
  • Document work performed and update maintenance work orders in the system.
  • Test and diagnose malfunctioning machinery and collaborate with other maintenance technicians to implement repairs.
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance per specifications and schedules.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team on shift to manage work order priorities.
  • Diagnose and replace faulty electrical components using schematics or PLCs.
  • Assist in maintaining daily operation of RO water system.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory for equipment and facility.
  • Replace air conditioner filters and damaged tiles and coverings.

Description

What we are looking for:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining company equipment and facilities. Technicians will maintain the equipment and facility through preventative maintenance (PM), root cause analysis, utilization of both internal and external resources, and follow through. The incumbent will troubleshoot, test, and diagnose electrical and mechanical equipment and malfunctioning machinery.

2nd shift: Monday-Friday 3:00 pm-11:00 pm

What you will do:

  • Troubleshoots electrical and mechanical manufacturing equipment issues using control knowledge, including programmable logic controllers (PLC) and three-phase.
  • Methodically works through equipment/process issues to identify root cause of failure.
  • Documents work performed and updates maintenance work order system.
  • Tests and diagnoses malfunctioning machinery and collaborate with other maintenance technicians to develop and install proper repairs.
  • Performs Preventive Maintenance (PM) per manufacturing specifications and schedules.
  • Coordinates with maintenance team members on each shift to understand status of work orders and priorities.
  • Diagnoses and replaces faulty electrical machine components such as relays, switches and motors and positions sensing devices, using machine schematics or PLC devices.
  • Assists with maintaining daily operation of Reverse Osmosis (RO) water system.
  • Maintains inventory of spare parts for the equipment and facility.
  • Replaces air conditioner filters, damaged ceiling tiles, floor tiles and wall coverings.

Who you are:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Two to five years maintenance experience preferred.
  • Minimum of two years electrical and mechanical knowledge and experience required.
  • Ability to work a rotating on-call work schedule up to 1 week per month.
  • HVAC experience preferred.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow SOP’s, WI’s, policies, and procedures such a safety, quality, and HR that are written in English.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers and management. Business communication is conducted in English.
  • Possess basic mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Basic understanding of GMP and working within FDA regulated industries preferred.
  • Basic computer skills including ability to use MS Outlook
  • Experience with automated manufacturing and quality systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to get along well with others and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to properly complete paperwork as required according to work instructions, standards, or other specifications.
  • Excellent dependability and reliability.
  • Willingness to accept change, learn, and work with new processes
  • Familiarity with an ERP system and Quality Management System (eQMS) preferred
  • Must be able to work extended hours when required
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
