Job summary

FMI Composites in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support production and facility operations on the Weekend/Night Shift. The role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and reading schematics.

Industrial electrical experience is a plus. The ideal candidate can read schematics, use basic tools and a multimeter, and perform general facility upkeep while ensuring safety programs and LAP procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read schematics and follow repair procedures.
• Experience reading blueprints and using basic hand/power tools.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Safety-focused with ability to comply with Lockout/Tagout procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment and facility systems to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, including replacing components (motors, sensors, belts, pumps, valves, bearings).
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and provide timely technical assistance to production.
• Perform general facility maintenance (basic electrical, lighting, plumbing, and building upkeep).
• Install, adjust, and maintain new and existing equipment.
• Follow all safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout, and wear required PPE.

What we need from you:

• High school diploma or GED required
• This position requires access to export-controlled information for which U.S. Person status is required under applicable U.S. export control laws and regulations.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs and performing frequent standing, walking, and bending
• Proficiency with hand/power tools; forklift or mobile equipment experience a plus
• Ability to read and follow safety procedures, manuals, and work instructions
• Basic math and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a safety-first mindset
