Job summary

Columbia Housing is seeking skilled maintenance technicians for various sites in Columbia, SC. The role involves general to complex maintenance and repair to keep apartment homes and facilities in good working order.

Responsibilities include preparing units for move-in, diagnosing faults, and performing preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks. On-call availability and a valid SC driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years in multifamily property maintenance.
• Knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry and painting helpful.
• EPA Type II or EPA Universal certification preferred.
• South Carolina driver's license required.
• Knowledge of fair housing laws.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair apartments and common areas to keep properties in good condition.
• Prepare units for move-in with diagnostic and preventive maintenance.
• Inspect and service HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies as scheduled.
• Assist with on-call duties as required.

Salary Range: $33,800 $48,300 $57,000

Columbia Housing is recruiting maintenance technicians with varied levels of experience: entry level, mid-level, expert/certified level. The maintenance technician performs general and some complex maintenance and repair to ensure apartment homes, houses and other property facilities are in good working condition. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing apartments/houses for move-in diagnosing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing (or assisting with repairing) heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units; electrical appliances, outlets, and light fixtures; plumbing, carpentry, etc. Being available for scheduled on-call is required to respond to after hour emergencies. Other duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, Trade, Technical, or Vocational school
• One to three years of experience in multifamily property management, facility maintenance, and/or mechanical repair
• Must have working knowledge of maintenance functions such as plumbing, HVAC, basic electric, general carpentry skills, painting,
• HVAC, plumbing and/or electrical certification highly preferred.
• EPA Type II or EPA Universal highly preferred.
• Must have valid South Carolina driver’s license
• Knowledgeable of state, local, and federal fair housing laws.
