Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to support our Columbia community. The role involves preventive and general maintenance across buildings and systems to ensure a warm, homelike environment for residents.

Candidates should bring a willingness to learn and a safe, service-oriented mindset. The position requires basic trades experience, a valid SC driver’s license, and comfort working with basic computer tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid South Carolina Driver’s license with a good driving record.
• 1 year of maintenance experience in commercial facilities, schools, retirement communities, or hotels in multiple trades (plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, refrigeration, grounds maintenance, etc.). HVAC certification a plus.
• Basic computer skills for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot fire alarm and sprinkler systems and respond to emergency calls.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair plumbing problems (toilet plunging, snaking, or replacements).
• Troubleshoot electrical and appliance problems and perform basic repairs ( breakers, receptacles, lighting ).
• Perform basic maintenance of HVAC systems and change filters.
• Maintain tools and equipment.
• Move and assemble furniture.
• Sheet rock repair and painting.
• Set up landscape irrigation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

The Maintenance Tech is responsible for performing, coordinating, and supervising various aspects of general and preventive maintenance to protect and maintain buildings, equipment, utility and electrical systems. Other job duties also include the following, but not limited to:

• Troubleshoot fire alarm and sprinkler systems and respond to emergency calls.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair various plumbing problems to include toilet plunging, snaking, or replacements of plumbing parts, piping, etc.
• Ability to troubleshoot cause of electrical and appliance problems and make basic repairs such as resetting breakers and GFCI receptacles, changing out receptacles, lighting, fans, stoves, refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, disposals, etc.
• Basic troubleshooting of air conditioning systems and diagnosis of problems and changing of filters, cleaning coils, etc.
• Maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Moving and assembling furniture.
• Sheet rock repair and painting.
• Setup landscape irrigation systems.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid South Carolina Driver’s license with a good driving record.
• 1 year of experience in maintenance at commercial facilities, school system, retirement communities, or hotels in all disciplines such as plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, refrigeration, ground maintenance, masonry and general maintenance. HVAC Universal certification a plus.
• Reasonable computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
