State of Indiana's Pendleton Correctional Facility is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support daily repair and preventive maintenance across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds. The Monday–Friday schedule offers steady hours and hands-on growth opportunities.

The role emphasizes safety, training, and clear paths to supervisory positions within the Physical Plant team, with advancement from Maintenance Technician to Supervisor and Director.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing and painting trades.
• Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites.
• Ability to fill in for other foreman to ensure operation.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and remediation plans.
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards, MSDS, hazards and safety precautions.
• Ability to plan and estimate project proposals (equipment, hours, costs).
• Ability to endure exposure to inclement weather.
• Ability to delegate work, set direction, and manage workflow.
• Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Solicit cost estimates or cost proposals.
• Estimate costs and work hours for maintenance projects.
• Oversee and participate in preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities.
• Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Ensure compliance with safety requirements for self and staff.
• Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees; support professional development.
• Set expectations, measure progress, provide feedback, and evaluate performance.
• Workday attendance at assigned worksite is required.
