Pendleton Correctional Facility is a maximum‑security facilitylocatedin Pendleton, Indiana, housing incarcerated adult males. The facility alsooperatesan adjacent minimum‑security dormitory. Role Overview:

As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll join a full‑service maintenance team, supporting daily repair and preventive maintenance in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds. This Monday-Friday role offers steady hours (7.5 hours a day), strong safety practices, and hands‑on experience. We provide training for motivated individuals starting their maintenance career, with a clear path for advancement into supervisory and leadership roles (Maintenance Technician → Maintenance Supervisor → Physical Plant Director).

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. Depending on the retirement plan you choose, the total compensation value of a $42,900.00 salary, including the State’s retirement contributions, can reach approximately $69,822.98. A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

• Solicit cost estimates or cost proposals.


• Estimate costs and work hours for maintenance projects.


• Oversee and participates in preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities


• Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles.


• Ensure compliance, of self and assigned personnel, with all appropriate protective and safety requirements


• Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.


• Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.


• Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.

What You'll Need for Success:

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

• Broad knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing and painting trades.


• Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites.


• Ability to fill in for other foreman to ensure the operation of the department.


• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and other remediation plans and documents.


• Thorough knowledge of standard practices, processes, materials, procedures, and the ability to use tools and equipment of the various trades, such as carpentry, plumbing and electrical.


• Thorough knowledge of the OSHA standards, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), occupational hazards and safety precautions required of the various trade areas.


• Ability to plan and estimate project proposals in terms of equipment, man hours and costs.


• Ability to endure exposure to inclement weather.


• Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.


• Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.


• Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.

This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
