Job summary

State of Indiana is seeking a Maintenance Technician at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Carlisle, Indiana, to support daily repair and preventive maintenance across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds. Training is provided to work with modern equipment, with a clear path to supervisory roles within the physical plant team.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing and painting.
• Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and other remediation plans and documents.
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards, MSDS, occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Ability to plan and estimate project proposals in terms of equipment, man hours and costs.
• Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Solicit cost estimates or cost proposals.
• Estimate costs and work hours for maintenance projects.
• Oversee and participates in preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities.
• Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Ensure compliance, of self and assigned personnel, with all appropriate protective and safety requirements.
• Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
• Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees.
