Job summary

Highland Property Management, Inc., a Summit Management Group subsidiary, seeks an Apartment Maintenance Technician to perform light construction, plumbing, carpentry, and custodial tasks to keep units move-in ready.

The role requires 2 years of maintenance and customer service experience, basic computer skills for work orders, and a proactive, confidential approach around residents.

Qualifications

• 2 years of apartment maintenance experience or equivalent.
• 2 years of direct customer service experience with residential or other clients.
• Professionalism with coworkers and residents in an apartment complex.
• Confidentiality policies in resident rights regulations and courtesy.
• Certification or apprenticeship in electrical, plumbing or carpentry is desired.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use work order systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform light construction and custodial tasks to prepare units.
• Remodel and repair carpentry tasks as needed.
• Handle plumbing and electrical tasks as required.
• Maintain exterior building and common areas.
• Respond to work orders and document work performed.

Position Description

Apartment Maintenance Technician

This position performs light construction work and custodial functions.

• Carpentry: Remodel and repair work
• Plumbing and Household electrical
• Exterior building maintenance
• Custodial work for units to be move-in ready
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, candidates must be able to demonstrate:

• 2 years of apartment maintenance experience or equivalent
• 2 years of direct costumer service experience with residential or other clients
• Professionalism with coworkers and residents while working in and around apartment complex
• Strict adherence to confidentiality policies according to resident's rights regulations and courtesy
• Additional knowledge/experience desired:
• Computer skills for completing and recording work order information
• Certification or apprenticeship in areas of maintenance (e.g. electrical, plumbing, carpentry)

Physical Characteristics

The position requires the following:

• Bending, kneeing, and awkward positions, and confined spaces to install/modify jobs
• Standing: Carpet, tile, concrete
• Lifting 50+ pounds
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable for company vehicles.
• Standard vision, with or without corrective eyewear.
• Standard hearing, with or without a hearing aid.
• Operating hand-tools (e.g. drills, sanders, saws, etc.)
