Job summary

Shaw Industries in Chickamauga, GA is seeking a Maintenance Technician B to sustain production equipment, improve reliability, and minimize downtime. In this mid-level role you will perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and support safe, efficient operations.

You will collaborate with a skilled team, follow PM and PdM practices, read mechanical drawings, document work in CMMS, and mentor junior technicians while developing advanced maintenance skills.

Qualifications

• Strong background in industrial or manufacturing maintenance.
• Proven mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Comprehensive safety knowledge including LOTO, confined space, PPE and other procedures.
• Proficiency with PM and PdM concepts and tools.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and document work in CMMS.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs on a wide range of industrial equipment.
• Maintain mechanical systems including bearings, shafts, pulleys, belts, chains, motors, and gearboxes.
• Service conveyance systems, piping, and utilities (steam, air, water).
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems to reduce downtime.
• Diagnose and resolve equipment issues impacting safety, quality, production efficiency.
• Identify root causes of mechanical failures and document actions.
• Execute repairs and communicate findings to maintenance and operations teams.
• Perform PMs, lubrication, and component replacements.
• Use condition-monitoring tools to identify early signs of failure.
• Address CBM issues and help refine maintenance plans.
• Complete work orders and support plant reliability initiatives.
• Assist with equipment installations and process improvements.
• Contribute to efficiency and equipment performance improvements.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure effective work.
• Mentor junior technicians and partner with seniors on complex tasks.
• Foster a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
