Job summary

The Community Builders (TCB) in Oakdale, MN is seeking a Service Technician II to perform apartment maintenance and grounds work with a strong emphasis on customer service. This in-office role requires a five-day-per-week presence to support timely responses to service requests and unit turnover.

You will diagnose repairs across appliances, carpentry, plumbing and basic electrical work while maintaining safety and inventory.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, understand and communicate in English; bilingual is a plus.
• Basic computer and handheld device skills.
• Knowledge of Federal Fair Housing Laws a plus.
• Familiar with hand and power tools, PPE and cleaning supplies.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Attention to detail, organization, time management and problem solving.
• Strong customer service, including handling difficult situations.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair appliances, carpentry, hardware, masonry, painting, basic electrical, plumbing and HVAC.
• Respond to service requests and emergencies promptly as directed by management.
• Monitor preventive maintenance tasks for building systems and equipment.
• Prepare and repair vacants for new resident move-ins.
• Maintain grounds and common spaces through cleaning, trash, landscaping, and snow removal.
• Prepare repairs for REAC/HQS inspections and audits.
• Maintain maintenance shop and inventory with safety mindset and PPE.
• Be available for weekend work, on-call rotation and emergency duties.
• Assist Maintenance Supervisor with technical guidance to Maintenance Tech I.
