Job summary

Virnig Manufacturing, Inc. in Fort Madison, IA, is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to sustain and improve our manufacturing operations. The role focuses on preventative maintenance, skilled repairs, and equipment upgrades to keep lines running safely and efficiently.

Ideal candidates bring strong mechanical aptitude and experience in industrial settings, with the ability to read blueprints, diagnose problems, and support production teams across shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical, vocational, or trades school training preferred.
• Experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance required.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Experience with welding, HVAC, PLCs, or industrial controls is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment including lasers, press brakes, CNC machines, and other production equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Maintain and repair electric, pneumatic, and manual tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
• Assist with equipment upgrades, modifications, and installations.
• Maintain building systems including doors, dock plates, lighting, HVAC systems, and plumbing.
• Maintain and repair forklifts, hoists, jibs, clamps, slings, and other lifting equipment.
• Follow lockout/tagout procedures and conduct safety inspections.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate repair status to leadership.
