Job summary

The YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metro Area is seeking a Maintenance Technician 2 to maintain campus buildings, grounds and infrastructure under the Director of Facilities. The role emphasizes safety, reliable repairs and timely response to maintenance requests.

You will perform routine upkeep, operate and care for equipment, and participate in long-term projects; weekend rotations may be required in this 24-hour operation.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years of experience preferred.
• Knowledge of grounds keeping, painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC or related repairs.
• Ability to read and interpret data; strong communication.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily maintenance duties including trash removal and repairs.
• Participates in long-term maintenance projects.
• Operates equipment safely (trucks, grounds equipment, carpentry tools).
• Cares for routine maintenance of equipment.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
• Works independently or as part of a team.
• Attends meetings and trainings.
• Works weekend rotations; may arrive early or stay late for weather or needs.
