Job summary

UniFirst is hiring a Maintenance Technician I in Jacksonville, FL. You will handle repairs, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, systems and components in a fast-paced production environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 6 months of experience, and ability to read blueprints. Overtime and training are provided as part of our Team Partner program at UniFirst.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record are required.
• Knowledgeable in maintenance equipment.
• Minimum of 6 months’ work experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment is required.
• Must pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment test to be eligible for employment.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics is required.
• Ability to read and understand maintenance literature printed in English is required.
• Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills is required.
• Lockout / Tagout experience is required
• Ability to work overtime as needed is required.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Utilize hand/power tools and precision measurement devices.
• Ensure safe operation of machinery and hydraulic, pneumatic systems.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems using precision instruments.
• Perform boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treatment testing and adjust as needed.
• Conduct daily/weekly safety checks on boilers and perform repairs.
• Record and analyze utility meter readings and take corrective actions.
• Conduct daily/weekly location/system safety checks and address concerns.
• Inspect motors, belts, and lubrication points; replace filters.
• Inspect and lubricate shafts and gears per procedures.
• Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
