Job summary

UniFirst is seeking a reliable Maintenance Tech I to join our team. You will handle repairs, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, systems and components, with a Monday–Friday schedule and occasional night/weekend overtime.

This role requires reading blueprints, using testing devices, performing safety checks, and maintaining boilers and utilities. On-the-job training is provided, and we value safety, teamwork, and hands-on problem solving at UniFirst.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver's license and a safe driving record required.
• Knowledgeable in maintenance equipment.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience repairing industrial processing equipment.
• Must pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment test.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics is required.
• Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills required.
• Lockout/Tagout experience is required
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Operate and repair industrial equipment using hand/power tools.
• Ensure safe operation of machinery including electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, manuals, and specifications.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems with precision instruments.
• Perform boiler chemical and wastewater testing and adjust chemicals as needed.
• Perform daily and weekly boiler safety checks and repairs.
• Record utility meter readings and take corrective actions.
• Perform location/system safety checks and address findings.
• Inspect motors, belts, fluids, replace filters, and maintain equipment.
• Lubricate shafts and bearings per procedures.
• Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
