Job summary

UniFirst seeks a reliable Maintenance Tech I to join our team in Indiana. You will handle repairs, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, systems, and components in a fast-paced environment.

Training is provided on the job, with a standard Monday–Friday work week and occasional night/weekend overtime. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, preferred two-year technical degree, and ability to read blueprints.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Two-year technical degree in an appropriate background is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record are required.
• Knowledgeable in maintenance equipment.
• Minimum of 6 months’ work experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment is required.
• Must pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment test to be eligible for employment.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics is required.
• Ability to read and understand maintenance literature printed in English is required.
• Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills is required.
• Lockout / Tagout experience is required
• Ability to work overtime as needed is required.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain industrial equipment and systems.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, manuals, and specifications.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems using precision instruments.
• Perform boiler chemical and wastewater testing and adjust as needed.
• Conduct safety checks and perform repairs to boilers.
• Record meter readings and take corrective actions.
• Conduct daily/weekly safety checks of locations and systems.
• Inspect motors, belts, fluids, and lubricate components.
• Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
