Job summary

UniFirst in Tarrs, PA is seeking a Maintenance Tech I to join our team. You will handle repairs, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, systems, and components.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, plus hands‑on technical training. You must be able to read blueprints, lift up to 80 lbs, and work overtime as needed. On-the-job training is provided, with a Monday–Friday schedule and periodic night/weekend overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must be 18 years or older; valid driver’s license.
• Pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment test.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Basic computer and MS Office skills.
• Lockout/Tagout experience required.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
• Overtime availability.

Responsibilities

• Operate hand and power tools and testing devices.
• Ensure safe operation of machinery and systems (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
• Follow blueprints, schematics and manuals.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems using precision instruments.
• Perform boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treatment testing and log results.
• Conduct daily/weekly safety checks on boilers and address issues.
• Record and analyze meter readings and take corrective actions.
• Inspect, clean, and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts.
• Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
